The site of ARTtract is wedged between two buildings located on Linienstrasse. This alley is situated nearby numerous art galleries, schools, religious institutions and small companies located on this street. As a result, it is a part of a fabric of cultural elements that form this part of Mitte’s characteristic. To connect the alley to the street, and the street to the courtyard in the back, the gap was filled with a venue for performances, creating the alley as a programmatic funnel that can hold and lead people to the unseen courtyard. There is a loft for short-term stays on the second floor that may be used by coordinators of such performances.
